Northeastern’s MS in Biotechnology is an innovative, nonthesis graduate degree program. The curriculum of this professional science master’s combines advanced interdisciplinary training in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, and pharmaceutical science with the development of high-value business skills critical to success in today’s dynamic workplace.
Twelve of the 16 credits in the Gordon Institute of Engineering Leadership Certificate fulfill specific course and elective requirements of the MS in Biotechnology. The Engineering Leadership Challenge Project fulfills the MS Biotechnology co-op requirement.

The Gordon Institute for Engineering Leadership is a transformational graduate curriculum offered by The Gordon Institute in partnership with the College of Engineering at Northeastern University.
Each year, a select number of highly qualified engineering professionals pursue the Gordon Engineering Leadership Program as part of a Master of Science degree in an engineering discipline or in biotechnology.
Graduates of the program, known as Gordon Fellows, emerge with the capabilities and confidence to lead the engineering breakthroughs of tomorrow.

Students must apply and be accepted to both programs separately and follow each program’s application and admission requirements.
GEL online application. As part of the GEL application, you must provide contact information for an individual at your organization who can 1) nominate you for the program and 2) attest that the organization can provide a suitable Challenge Project for completion during the program.

Degree earned or in progress at a U.S / Canadian institution
Degree earned or in progress at an institution where English is the only medium of instruction
Official exam scores from either the TOEFL iBT (institution code is 3682), IELTS, PTE exam, or Duolingo English Test. Scores are valid for two years from the test date.
Prerequisite coursework:
Applicants may be admitted to the program without first satisfying these pre-requisite requirements but will be expected to complete this coursework in parallel during their first year in the program.
Biochemistry (lecture, no lab required)
Advanced biology, such as genetics, physiology, or molecular biology (lecture, no lab required)
