Program overview

Address climate challenges

The Graduate Certificate in Climate and Engineering provides students with essential knowledge to tackle climate change’s impact on engineered systems. This three-course program delves into decarbonization, carbon sequestration, climate engineering, and adaptation strategies.

Students will learn how to mitigate emissions, re-engineer systems, and assess the safety and societal impact of climate solutions. Open to both engineering and non-engineering graduates, the program emphasizes the analytical skills needed to create effective, sustainable designs.

  • Open to students with non-engineering undergraduate degrees.
  • Graduate certificates in the College of Engineering can be taken alongside a master’s degree in the College of Engineering or pursued separately. Students not pursuing a master’s degree who have completed the graduate certificate can apply the certificate credits toward an eligible master’s degree in the College of Engineering.

The demand for climate-savvy engineers is growing across sectors, from government agencies to private firms. This certificate prepares you for roles in municipalities, NGOs, engineering companies, and organizations developing climate action plans.
