The Master of Arts in Teaching has been approved for endorsement of initial licensure by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Specialize in one of three industry-aligned concentrations:

Elementary education (Grades 1-6): Build a strong foundation in child development, curriculum, and inclusive classroom practice.

Secondary Education: Build a strong foundation in child development, curriculum, and inclusive classroom practice.

• Grades 5–12: English, History, Social Sciences, Political Science
• Grades 8-12: Mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, earth/space science.

English as a Second Language (PreK-8 or 5-12): Develop field experience to meet the growing need for licensed ESL teachers.

• Immersive, practice-based preparation that develops reflective, high-impact instruction.
• Classes that broaden your pedagogical toolkit and perspectives.
• Progressive clinical experiences: pre-practicum/early fieldwork, teaching seminars, and a full-term practicum.
• Eligibility for endorsement for initial Massachusetts teacher licensure in your chosen concentration.
• Graduate ready to create meaningful, measurable impact in schools and communities.

• Professional resumé

• Unofficial, personal copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended; official transcripts are required at the time of enrollment

  • The Foreign Credential Evaluation (FCE) is a required assessment of all transcripts and documents. Please review the FCE requirements by country.

• English language proficiency proof

• Two recommendation letters

• Personal statement (500-1000 words in a PDF or Word document) identifying your educational goals and expectations from the program; please be aware that the university’s academic policy on plagiarism applies to your statement of purpose
