Program overview

Lead in product management

Our Master of Science in Product Management leverages the strengths of four Northeastern University colleges to offer product management expertise. You can tailor your degree to your preferred focus—whether in business, design, analytics, or technology. The program can be completed in 12 to 18 months and delivers Northeastern’s renowned experiential learning opportunities along with foundational coursework, hands-on learning, and specialized concentrations. As a graduate, you will be prepared to drive product innovation, lead initiatives across industries, and deliver meaningful results.

The program reflects the interdisciplinary nature of product management—mirroring the field’s demands—where product leaders must collaborate effectively across multiple functions and teams.

Specialize in one of four industry-aligned concentrations, or choose the “no concentration” pathway, offered by the College of Professional Studies, for those seeking a broader focus.

Design and Product Management, offered by the College of Arts, Media and Design, focuses on integrating user-centered design principles into the product development process, helping students turn customer insights into compelling, intuitive experiences.

Product Innovation Management, offered by the D’Amore-McKim School of Business, explores how to identify opportunities, manage risk, and drive innovation across product lines. Students will learn to lead bold, market-shaping initiatives and create business model innovation from concept to execution.

Technical Product Management, offered by the College of Engineering, is designed for those working with engineering or technical teams looking to bridge business strategy and technical execution. Gain the tools to translate customer needs into clear specifications, technical features, and roadmaps.

Product Analytics, offered by the College of Professional Studies, emphasizes how to harness data to guide product decisions, optimize features, and measure performance. Learn to make smarter, faster decisions grounded in real-world user behavior.

No concentration/elective option, offered by the College of Professional Studies, offers a pathway for students to customize their degree with courses from all concentrations.

  • Complete your program in as little as 12 months—gaining a fast track for career advancement.
  • Among interviewed companies, 43% were hiring more product managers (Product School, The Future of Product Management, 2022).
  • The median total annual compensation for product managers in the U.S. has risen to approximately $146,000 (Glassdoor, 2025).
