Program overview

Bring a scientific eye to decision making

Operations research deals with the application of scientific methods to decision-making. Students learn how to develop and solve mathematical and computer models of systems using optimization and statistical methods.

Our program is offered jointly by the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department and the Mathematics Department, thus achieving a unique balance of theory and application. Graduates work in a wide variety of fields, including transportation, supply chain operations, communications and computer operations, manufacturing, finance, and health care.

  • TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo for international applicants unless the waiver requirements are met

  • The application fee is waived for all new applicants applying to any of our Master of Science or Graduate Certificates for the fall 2025 and spring 2026 application terms.
