Launch Your Tech Career with an MS in Information Systems

Industry Advice Computing and IT Engineering

There is no doubt that the world is in the midst of a digital revolution spurred by the explosive growth of the internet and technological innovations previously unimagined. According to the U.S.  Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and information technology occupations are projected to grow 15 percent from 2021 to 2031, which is much faster than the average for all occupations.

To address the rising need to digitize operations, Northeastern University’s College of Engineering offers an MS in Information Systems—Bridge program that gives students with non-technical backgrounds—or those who want to strengthen their technical background—the necessary knowledge and skills to advance and succeed in the field.

Information system professional are problem-solvers who design innovative software solutions to fit the complexities of the business world while solving for the humanistic needs of the people who use them. They close the gap between business users and technologists. To prepare students for this interdisciplinary work, the MSIS—Bridge program integrates business management, software engineering, and information technology throughout the curriculum.

A Flexible and Supportive Program

Our comprehensive curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning and provides a personalized learning experience tailored to students’ individual needs and goals. Focused tracks allow students to map their studies to their career interests in areas such as user experience design, full-stack software engineering, business intelligence and data analytics, machine learning and data science engineering, and project or product management.

Classes are complemented by an ecosystem of support, including the MSIS—Bridge Buddy Program, workshops, code labs, and a community of inclusive and diverse peers. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Northeastern’s co-op program, gaining up to eight months of professional experience before graduation to help set them apart in the job market. Upon completion of the program, students receive a Master of Science in Information Systems.
