Northeastern’s Master of Professional Studies in Analytics program gives students the skills they need to succeed in today’s data-driven world. Developed by experienced thought leaders from across the analytics industry, the program incorporates a range of employer-sponsored projects, from data extraction to the translation and implementation of data analysis.

Core analytics courses

In the MPS program, students must complete six core analytics classes. Each core course is designed to broaden and deepen your understanding of analytics to prepare you for a successful career. The required courses include:

  1. Introduction to Analytics
  2. Probability Theory and Introductory Statistics
  3. Intermediate Analytics
  4. Introduction to Enterprise Analytics
  5. Communication and Visualization for Data Analytics
  6. Database Management Systems

You’ll benefit from small class sizes, collaborating with renowned faculty members, and working with leading companies from around the world. A cumulative 3.0 GPA and 45 total quarter hours are required to complete the program.

Students take a minimum of two electives that help broaden their knowledge and explore different career interests.

Analytics capstone project

The capstone practicum is critical to the MPS experience and provides a high-level analytical application of real-world data. You’ll partner with a local organization to solve an analytics problem integral to the company’s operation. The MPS capstone bridges theory and practice, giving you the real-world skills you need to succeed. At the end of the project, you’ll present your analytical insights and recommendations to successfully implement your project.

Integrated experiential learning

Experience is at the heart of our analytics master’s program. Powered by our signature co-op program, experiential learning enables you to explore your interests, find your passion, and acquire the skills and knowledge you need for future success.

The program also incorporates a practicum in the development and delivery of predictive data analysis for strategic decision-making in organizations. You’ll get the opportunity to apply the principles and tools of analytics to real-world problems in business organizations and to develop and present analytical insights and recommendations for successful implementation of your capstone project.
