A Global Economy Needs Global Citizens
At Northeastern, teaching and research are grounded in global engagement. Students immerse themselves in experiential learning opportunities on all seven continents; faculty members collaborate with colleagues locally and abroad to tackle the global challenges facing health, security, and sustainability; and alumni continue making a difference in more than 150 countries.
Earn a Degree Abroad
Northeastern offers several of its programs in a hybrid format overseas, including our Doctor of Education program, which is available in Hong Kong, and our Master of Science in Leadership, delivered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Melbourne, Australia.
Put Theory into International Practice
Students can gain hands-on experience and put their research into practice through an International Field Study, International Co-op, or Dialogues of Civilization. No one experience looks the same:
- Students got an up-close look at the Syrian refugee crisis, carrying out fieldwork in Jordan refugee camps alongside Dr. Denis Sullivan, co-director of Northeastern’s Middle East Center, to understand the roots and ramifications of the crisis.
- The D’Amore-McKim School of Business’s 2015 Executive MBA Class concluded their program with a field study trip to China, organized by Professor Ravi Ramamurti, director of the Center for Emerging Markets. The group visited industry-leading companies in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Beijing, and spoke to executives from the likes of EMC-China, Lenovo, and China’s National Development and Reform Commission.
“The best place to view home is abroad. It’s sometimes more helpful to see things from a distance than up-close. It helps inform your research, education, and life. Traveling abroad never ceases to educate, enlighten, and inform me.”
— Denis Sullivan, Professor of Political Science and International Affairs
Acclimate to New Cultures
More than 7,500 international students and scholars from 140 different countries study at Northeastern each year. As an international student, you bring a global perspective of your own to Northeastern—one we value and believe enhances every student’s education.
Explore NU Global, offered by the College of Professional Studies. Through NU Global, international students gain access to innovative pathway, language, and global degree programs, as well as dedicated resources, including an International Tutoring Center, which features reading and language and culture workshops.
In today’s rapidly changing global workforce, one of the biggest competitive advantages a student can have is a global perspective. At Northeastern, fostering that outlook is built into our mission.
“At some point, a significant portion of the workforce is going to be working in an environment where they’re interacting with people from around the world.”
— Dr. Patrick Plunkett, Senior. Associate Dean for Global Engagement and Executive Director of NU Global
